Professor Jiang Chen from University of Syracuse, makes a Speech in school of Statistics

On 15th May 2012, Professor Chen Jiang from the college of Management, University of Syracuse visited School Statistics and made a speech on Application of statistics on Economic Analysis. Prof. Liu Yang, Dean of School of Statistics, who was chairing the session, introduced the School of statistics development history and current situation, from the aspects of Scientific Research, Teaching and International Relations. She indicated that School of Statistics would strive to provide a clear strategic direction anchored on objective of being more academic, more internationalized, and more social-influenced. In his lecture, Professor Chen Jiang first introduce the basic ideas of statistical research methods to problem-oriented, then explained the function and purpose of the seasonally adjusted and X-12, TRAMOS / SEAT seasonally adjusted macroeconomic data. He further explained the role of time series methods and regression forecasting models in economic analysis. Finally, Professor Chen Jiang had a lively discussion and exchange with students and teachers who attended the session.
